Desert Marrakech Tours invites you on our signature 4-Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour into the heart of the Sahara Desert. This is our most complete desert itinerary — enough time to properly explore the kasbahs, gorges, and valleys of the south without rushing, before a full night camped in the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga.

You'll travel the whole way with our own driver-guide in a private or small shared-group 4x4, staying in hand-picked riads, guesthouses, and a traditional Berber-style desert camp along the route.

Duration: 4 days / 3 nights Starts / Ends: Marrakech to Marrakech Group type: Shared group tour or private tour available Best season: Year-round (spring and autumn offer the mildest desert temperatures)

Why Book This 4-Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour With Desert Marrakech Tours

  • Direct operator — your vehicle, driver-guide, and desert camp are ours, not subcontracted out to a third party.

  • The full southern route — 4 days gives enough time to properly see Aït Ben Haddou, Dades, and Todra Gorges, rather than rushing straight to the dunes.

  • Small groups on shared departures, with a private option for those who want their own schedule.

  • Local desert camp partners — our Merzouga camp is run with local Amazigh families, not an outside investor.

  • One team throughout — the same driver-guide and vehicle for all 4 days, so there's continuity and no handoffs between operators.

4-Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Experience — FAQs

What's the difference between the 3-day and 4-day Merzouga desert tours? The 4-day tour adds an extra night and a slower pace through the Dades and Todra Gorges on both the outbound and return legs, while the 3-day tour covers the same core stops — Aït Ben Haddou, the Atlas Mountains, and a night in the Merzouga dunes — on a tighter schedule.

Do I need camel-riding experience for the desert trek? No, the camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes requires no prior experience; our handlers lead the camels and guide you the entire way, and it's suitable for most ages and fitness levels.

What are the desert camps like on this tour? The Erg Chebbi desert camp is a traditional Berber-style camp with tents set up directly in the dunes, including dinner, breakfast, and live music around the fire, with shared or private tent options depending on the tour level booked.

Is this tour suitable if I don't want to camp in the desert? The overnight desert camp is a core part of the 4-day itinerary, though travelers with specific accessibility or comfort needs should contact Desert Marrakech Tours in advance to discuss options.

Can I book this tour as a private trip instead of a shared group? Yes, the 4-Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Experience is available as a private tour with your own vehicle and driver-guide, priced per group rather than per person.

How cold does it get in the desert at night? Desert nights can get cold even when daytime temperatures are warm, especially between November and February, so warm layers are recommended year-round for the overnight camp.

Can this tour end in Fes instead of returning to Marrakech? Yes, if you'd prefer to continue on to Fes rather than loop back to Marrakech, ask about our 3-Day Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour via Merzouga, which follows a similar route with a one-way finish.

What should I pack for this tour? Layered clothing for temperature swings between day and night, comfortable closed shoes, a scarf or headwrap for the dunes, sunscreen, and a warm jacket for the desert camp evening.
